The TTi Flat Jack® Comp Shingle Mount Eliminates Shingle Trimming and is 100% water tight, reducing labor costs for Installers of Residential Solar Power Systems

NOVATO, California, January 17, 2012 – TTi, the premiere solar mounting and racking solutions provider, announced today the next generation of its leading residential solar roof mount, the patented TTi Flat Jack® Comp Shingle Mount. As the most durable and reliable mount for installing photovoltaic (PV) panels on composition shingle roofs, the TTi Flat Jack® now requires no shingle trimming or sealants, reduces labor costs and protects roofs.

With roof leaks as one of the top concerns among homeowners considering solar, installers can now provide the homeowner with peace of mind, knowing that the fully-flashed, high quality TTi Flat Jack® is protecting their roof.

“We took our installers’ feedback and designed the new Flat Jack Comp Shingle Mount with a larger flashing that requires no shingle trimming or sealants, allowing for a faster install and assurance that the mount is 100% watertight,” said Denise Thompson, General Manager at TTi.

Made of galvanized steel and with only three primary components, the TTi Flat Jack® anchors to the roof’s rafters providing a solid foundation and converting a shingle roof into a solar platform. The system is engineered with a breakthrough design and is built to withstand heavy vertical loads and high winds. It is compatible with all standard PV rail systems and can support other roof installations including HVAC equipment, antennas, solar thermal, or flagpoles.

The TTi Flat Jack® was recently selected by Energiebau North America for its LORENZ® solo photovoltaic mounting system. “After our evaluation of other roof mounts, the TTi Flat Jack® Comp Shingle Mount stood out because it was designed with installers in mind,” said Christopher Booth, VP of Sales at Energiebau North America. “This particular flashing system is designed to the same high standards as LORENZ® solo and meets the basic requirements of speed of install, durability and safety.”

Innovative solar panel mounting system launched in NJ
by Energiebau North America.

Company creates new jobs while facilitating panel installation
for solar contractors nationwide

September 22, 2011 (Somerset, NJ) — Energiebau North America today introduced the LORENZ® solo photovoltaic mounting system, which cuts installation time and effort for solar contractors by introducing a click-and-tighten process that is secure, safe and code compliant.

Since it opened its U.S. facilities in Energiebau North America has created five jobs, and expects to create five more within the next year.

Energiebau Founder and Chairman Michael Schafer explained the LORENZ® solo was developed specifically for the U.S. market by the company’s engineers, combining the needs of North American solar contractors with nearly 30 years of solar industry leadership and innovation. The PV mounting system meets Federal and State engineering standards and codes.

The LORENZ® solo photovoltaic mounting system is designed for pitched roofs. Installation involves four simple steps:
1) Attaching the Click Connector bracket to the mounting base on the roof.
2) Clicking the Mounting Rail into the Click Connector.
3) Securing solar panels using click-on Module Clamps.
4) Tightening the Module Clamps.

The entire LORENZ® solo system is designed to make secure, sustainable solar panel installation a dependable yet faster process, thereby minimizing labor cost and increasing returns on investment for the solar array owner.

Christopher Booth, VP of Energiebau North America, explained, “The idea is to get installers off the roof as fast as possible. With LORENZ® solo, contractors optimize their financial and labor resources, saving time and money.”

“Beyond that,” Booth continued, “The Lorenz Mounting System includes grounding solutions, intelligent cable management and a solar panel guard tool that supports hands-free installation. Last but hardly least is the easy-to-use Lorenz Designer software package, which facilitates fast, precise designing of photovoltaic arrays, including calculation of snow and wind loads, and generating a parts lists for ordering.”

Improved Technology Meets Most Standard Codes

(NOVATO, Calif.) October 15, 2009 Thompson Technology Industries (TTi) announces the first International Code Council (ICC) certified PV solar roof mount bracket. The TTi Flat Jack® successfully passed the rigorous ICC engineering standards which include stress and waterproofing tests. To satisfy the ICC requirements TTi incorporated a heavier gauge galvanized steel flashing along with the standard all-weather black powder coat finish. Although these changes improved the product performance, the Flat Jack still sells for approximately 30 percent less then the closest competitive bracket.

Most U.S. cities, counties and states that adopt codes choose the International Code Council set of codes. ICC certification provides building officials with documented performance criteria enabling code compliance. Contractors and PV installers can be confident that Flat Jacks, when installed properly, will pass building inspections.

The Flat Jack is quick and easy to install and, as documented by the ICC, does not require sealants. The mounting bracket is designed to withstand 130 mph winds and has been used on thousands of composition shingle roofs to mount PV panels. The low profile bracket is compatible with most PV rails and can even be used to install solar hot water, antennas or any other item that can attach to the 3/8-16 stainless steel threaded stud.
“TTi strives to be at the forefront of creating innovative products while improving upon established technology,” says Thomas S. Rooney, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of TTi. “The Flat Jack® has been the industry standard for many years. With this new certification, the Flat Jack® now surpasses current standards.”

Tracker Saves Costs on Installation and Maintenance

(NOVATO, Calif.) October 2, 2009 Thompson Technology Industries (TTi) has developed a new generation of the SunSeeker® Single Axis tracker. This new generation allows for increased height of the system and mounting on uneven surfaces while saving 10 to 15 percent on installation and maintenance costs.

This tracker breaks TTi’s previous standards in the industry with the ability to drive even more panels in a slightly increased “footprint” over the previous generation. Output is increased without sacrificing energy production. With even fewer motors, operation and maintenance are lower and the tracker does not require field welding for installation.

“The tracker maintains our leadership position in the industry,” says Thomas Rooney, Chief Executive Officer of TTi. “The new generation takes into account the feedback from our customers to continually simplify installation and reduce overall costs.”

Savings are realized by the option to pile drive the support posts, which is less expensive and quicker to install. The tracker now has the advantage that allows it to increase the height to 78” and still meet a windspeed of 90mph with the panels at 45 degrees.
The tracker delivers faster installation than traditional cement foundations and I-beams now come standard with purchase and priced into the tracker system cost.

“The tracker was modified to replace 4”, schedule 40 support and driveline posts with I-beams as support mounts,” says Emil Johansen, TTi senior design engineer. “The I-beams can be easily driven into the ground eliminating the need for a concrete based foundation. This makes it environmentally friendly and allows for easy site reclamation at the end of contracted lease periods.”

TTi also increased the thermal expansion tolerance of the system which enhances operation in severe heat. The finish on fasteners and bolts has been upgraded to automotive industry standards for increased corrosion tolerance and life. Ultra high molecular weight poly ethylene, UV stabilized bushings and rollers also increase life beyond industry standards. The SunSeeker® Single Axis tracker now can drive up to 400kWp DC in one block array of 150’ by 400’ on one 1.5hp motor.

TTi’s SunSeeker™ Single-axis Tracking System Maximizes Power Production for Site

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) September 30, 2008 Samsung C&T Corporation recently dedicated the 3 Megawatt (MW) “Sol-Luce Jindo” solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Jindo County, South Jeolla Province in Korea. Sol-Luce Jindo will provide electricity to 1,500 families in the region. S-Energy Co. Ltd. designed and built the system utilizing their solar modules and the SunSeeker® Single-Axis Tracker System by Thompson Technology Industries (TTi).

The SunSeeker System allows for greater energy production over traditional fixed-tilt mounting systems. The single-axis tracking technology follows the path of the sun daily, resulting in 10-20% production gain over fixed tilt systems and up to 25% over flat mounted systems.

“We looked at various solutions, and TTi gave us a true advantage in large-scale solar system construction at a competitive price. System installation was quick and efficient resulting in lowered installation costs. The SunSeeker’s robust design and construction combined with its low energy consumption ensures we are providing our clients with the best return on investment possible,” said Mr. Hong Sung-min, President and CEO of S-Energy.

Construction of the project was completed in two phases and the entire 3 MW system took less than 3 months to build. The system is comprised of 17,136 S-Energy 175-MQ modules spanning 86,000 square meters, using only 12 drive motors to actuate the sections of the SunSeeker tracker.

“We were happy for this opportunity to expand the installed base of our Sunseeker tracker into international markets. Korea is clearly a growth region for the solar industry and we are honored to have partnered with Samsung and S-Energy on this project,” stated Kris Jernstedt, Vice President, Sales and Marketing of TTi.
